The offset printing is at this moment the best version as price and quality for the large circulations (over 1000 pieces). The offset process implies the transfer of the liquid ink from the printing plate on an intermediary surface and after that on the final stand. It can be printed special colors, including metallic colors (golden, silver).
The offset uses the CMYC system and the manufacturing of the four basic colors, needed for processing the image in the print, is made based on the half toning system. So, the paper surface is partially covered with circles in the four basic colors, which are small enough and frequent so that the eye will average the effects of the white surface and of the one covered by the circles, creating a unified image. It is good to know that, in terms of chromatic, the images are directly influenced by the characteristics of the support (degree of white, glossy, mat or metallic surface, and others). The more a support is much absorbent, the more the contrast and the luminosity of the printed image will decrease. The printing is also influenced by the paper color and by the used cardboard. Besides the classic inks (CMYK and Pantone), exist colors with special proprieties (pearl, scratch, for non absorbent or thermosensitive environments that react at the rubbing with a metal), with which one can achieve special prints.
Supports on which we can execute offset:
Offset paper: is the most absorbent support of pattern. On this support we can print polychromic prints and also prints with special colors. It is recommended for inside book, brochures, and others. Generally this support is not varnished. Using weights bigger than 150g/m² we can obtain images in excellent conditions.

- Silk: has only a protective effect, it does not give shine.
- Offset overprint varnish gloss: provides gloss and protection, resisting abrasion and scratching.
- Offset varnish matte: the printing gives a matte finish and increases its resistance to abrasion and scratching.
